Our Founding Pastor Msgr. Ercole I. Rossi (1913-1937)

 

 Rev. Monsignor Ercole I. Rossi was ordained in 1906 and in 1913 he was directed to  establish a new parish in the Yonkers City. On August 5th 1913, Eminence John Card. Farley of NY summoned Rev. Ercole J. Rossi to Yonkers to found there a parish for the Italians of that city. A store on 34 Park Hill Avenue was selected. He was then sent St. Gabriel’s Church. On Sunday September 28, 1913 Mass was celebrated for the first time dedicated the Chapel to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Fist of Our Lady of Rosary).

 

Rev. Mario J. Ponsiglione (1937-1946)

Monsignor Mario J. Ponsiglione had attended public school, Preparator School University in 1920 in NY. He then attended St. Joseph’s Seminary for one year after which time he was sent to Rome to study at the Almo Ciollegio Capranica. Was ordained in Rome in 1925 at Basilica of St. John Lateran I his celebrated first mass in the Catacombs and when he returned to America.

 

 

Rev. Joseph P. Caramanno (1946-1970)

Msgr. Joseph P. Caramammo was born in Castrofilippo, Sicily in 1905. He was ordained a priest in 1930 by Patrick Cardinal Hayes. In 1946 he arrived in Yonkers in Holy Eucharist and St. Anthony Churches.  Fr. Joseph Caramanno faced decisions closing of the venerable and well-beloved Holy Eucharist parish. On September 16, 1962, the most joyous day in the history of the parish, the school was dedicated in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Anthony by His Excellency, Bishop Joseph M. Pernicone. The school cornerstone was set in place by Father Caramanno on Palm Sunday of 1962. Fr. Caramanno paid the parish debt within three years and build new a school.

 

Rev. Msgr. Cajetan J. TROY (1970-1976)

 

For nine years, Msgr. Marino had served at the Church of Our Lady of, Mount Carmel on Park Hill Avenue here He native in Yonkers and attended in his youth and at which he celebrated his first Mass.

 

Fr. Anthony M. Napoltano (1976-1986)

Fr. Anthony M. Napolitano was born August 20, 1939 in Bronx, NY. He went on to graduate from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, the University of St. Jerome in Canada, and St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. He was ordained by the Card. Spellman in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, on May 28, 1966 and was assigned to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers on June 1, 1966 where he provided us with ten years of dedicated service.

 

Fr. Terzo Vinci SAC (1986-2016)

Father Terzo Vinci was born in Rocca Priora, Rome, Italy on January 18, 1934 to Paolino and Maria (Luciani) Vinci. He attended the Gregorian and St. John Lateren Universities in Rome. On September 8, 1952 he made his first Pallottine consecration in his home town and was ordained a priest on November 30, 1958. In 1960, he was asked by his superiors to come to America to work in Pallottine parishes. Father served as the Pastor of St. John Bosco in Malone, NY along the Canadian border, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in East Harlem and then in 1986 he was welcomed to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Yonkers in the activities of the Italian groups and their families. He was also an influential member of the Human Rights Commission and in 1994 was chosen as the Grand Marshall of the Columbus Day Parade. Father Vinci served as Chaplain for the Exchange Club, the Armando Rauso Amvets Post, the Frank A. Rea American Legion Post, CIAO, the Columbus League, the Sons of Italy, and the Columbus Day Committee. For many years, he maintained a religious radio program over the Italian Communications Network. Fr Vinci died in February 4, 2016.

Fr. Vinci died in February 4, 2016. Funeral Mass was celebrated by Bishop Gerald Walsh and he the body rested in a family tomb in Italy.

Father Christopher Salvatori, SAC, who served with Father Vinci at Our Lady of Mount Carmel for 14 years.January 22, 2016 marked Fr. Christopher Salvatori's 16th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood.

 

Fr. Marek Rudecki SAC, from 2016

  Eminence Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan asked the Pallottine Fathers from Poland to take the Pastoral Care of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Yonkers and Fr. M. Rudecki SAC became a pastor from September 1st, 2016.
